Essential oils, the healing language of nature
Not a session you book on its own. Something Anita brings into a session where it fits, and writes about here because there is more to it than a line on a list.
Essential oils hold a special place within my practice. I work with doTERRA essential oils, thoughtfully incorporating them into sessions where appropriate to create a deeply nurturing, sensory experience that supports the connection between body, mind and spirit.
For me, essential oils are more than beautiful aromas. They are an invitation to reconnect with nature, to pause, breathe and allow the senses to guide us gently back into the present moment.
The essence of the plant
Essential oils are highly concentrated aromatic extracts obtained from different parts of plants, including flowers, leaves, bark, roots, resins, fruits and seeds. Each possesses its own distinctive aromatic character: the softness of lavender, the brightness of citrus, the earthiness of vetiver, the richness of frankincense, the freshness of peppermint.
Supporting the whole person
Within my practice, I approach wellbeing holistically. We are not simply a physical body, nor are our thoughts and emotions entirely separate from our embodied experience. Body, mind, emotion and spirit continually influence one another. Essential oils complement this philosophy beautifully.
A daily practice of presence
Perhaps one of the most beautiful gifts of essential oils is their ability to turn an ordinary moment into a ritual. The simple act of pausing, opening a bottle, receiving the aroma, closing the eyes, taking a conscious breath, and noticing what is happening within.
This is how I love to work with essential oils, not simply as something we use, but as part of a deeper invitation into awareness, connection and self-care.
Safety and scope
The choice of oil is always considered thoughtfully. Individual preferences, sensitivities and circumstances matter, and essential oils are not appropriate for everyone or in every situation. Their use should always be respectful, informed and appropriately diluted or applied according to established safety guidance.
Curious about a session?
Essential oils are woven into sessions where they suit the person and the day. If you would rather they were not, that is equally fine, just say.
